January 25th: Prom Dress Consignment Sale
February 22nd: Bicentennial Ball – 8pm-midnight
As the Shelby County Bicentennial Celebration draws to a close and the Sidney Bicentennial Celebration is about to begin, what better way to celebrate than to host a magnificent ball at the courthouse, the likes of which Shelby County hasn’t seen in decades.
This will be a ticketed event. Tickets go on sale November 16th.
April 11th: Easter Egg Hunt on the Square – 11:00 a.m.
Children through the 5th grade search far and wide around the Historic Court House for hidden eggs. **There is no need to arrive early. The hunt will not begin until 11:00 a.m. sharp. ** We will gather for announcements and then allow the kids to begin the hunt! Please be sure to be courteous and kind to one another. 🙂
There will be 4 age groups:
April 21st & 22nd: Hidden Spaces, Secret Places Tour – 6-8(approx.)
If you’ve ever been curious about some of the historic buildings in Downtown Sidney, this is an event you won’t want to miss! The event will feature both finished and unfinished spaces. Come see the transformations!
May 2nd: Kentucky Derby Affair on the Square
We are bringing the Kentucky Derby to Downtown Sidney! Get your hats and bow ties ready for a fantastic event! Vote for your favorite Jockey!
May 23rd – October 10th: The Great Sidney Farmer’s Market
Join us every Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to Noon! The market is “the place to be” on Saturday mornings throughout the season. Crafters offer a large variety of homemade items, and farmers bring their freshest produce to tantalize your taste buds. Fresh baked goods and jams and jellies are always a crowd pleaser. Plants and flowers are abundant. Shop early for your best selection!
June 19th – 20th: Sidney Music & Arts Festival
A festival celebrating Sidney, especially in our Bicentennial! Raise the Roof for the Arts and Sidney Alive will team up to create a fun day for our community with music and art!
We partner with United Way agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses & churches to provide a free FUN Kidz Zone for children ages 12 & under (time TBA).
July 18th: Chalk the Walk – 9:00 a.m. to Noon
Rent a sidewalk square for a donation and create your masterpiece! Chalk will be provided. A panel of judges will choose a winner and that person will receive a prize!
August 4th: National Night Out – 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Over 37.8 million people in more than 16,000 communities will join forces to promote police-community partnerships; crime, drug & violence prevention; safety; and neighborhood unity. Find us on the square for fun activities and food!
August 14th: The Amazing Downtown Race – 5:45 p.m.
Teams race through downtown for a chance to win great prizes! **Clue sheets are passed out at 5:55 p.m.** Teams of 4, (registration is required) on the NORTH side of the Court Square. All team members must be age 21 and over. ** Prizes will be awarded to the top teams.
September 3rd: Open Air Dinner on the Square
Patrons will gather for an elegant farm to table dinner.
October 1st: Annual Downtown Chocolate Walk
Join us as we tour downtown businesses while enjoying samples of delicious chocolate treats! Tickets are limited. This is a 21 and up event.
October 10th: Boos & Brews Fall Festival – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Ghosts, goblins, superheroes and princesses will gather downtown for a costume contest and activities! A costume contest for ages 0-12 years will be held with registration from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with the contest beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visit Amos Memorial Public Library, Ron & Nita’s & for more fun! Some participating downtown businesses will also pass out candy from 12:00-2:00.
November 11th – 14th: Holiday Shop Hop
December 5th: Winter Wonderland Parade/Christmas of Yesteryear
Enjoy the sights, tastes & sounds of a Historic Downtown Sidney Christmas. It’s a great time to shop local and finish up those Christmas lists too! See our downtown all dressed up for the holidays and enjoy a wonderful evening parade, complete with Santa & Mrs. Claus! The parade will step off at 6:00 p.m. We ask that all spectators remain on the sidewalk during the parade for everyone’s safety.
