Patrons can enter at participating businesses for a chance to win a great package of local prizes.

First Fridays Downtown – March 2nd – December 7th

Participating shops are invited to stay open later and offer a First Friday Discount.

Easter Egg Hunt on the Square – March 24th at 11:00 a.m.

Children through the 5th grade search far and wide around the Historic Court House for hidden eggs. **There is no need to arrive early. The hunt will not begin until 11:00 a.m. sharp. ** We will gather for announcements and then allow the kids to being the hunt! Please be sure to be courteous and kind to one another!
There will be 4 age groups:

Ages 1-2
Ages 3-5
Ages 6-8
Ages 9-11

Hidden Spaces, Secret Places Tour – April 24th & 25th

If you’ve ever been curious about some of the historic buildings in Downtown Sidney, this is an event you won’t want to miss! The event will feature both finished and unfinished spaces. Come see the transformations!

Kentucky Derby on the Square – May 5th

Eat Southern Fare, Drink Mint Julips, Ladies: wear your hats, Gents: wear your bow ties! We will award the best hat and best dressed! Nominate your favorite “Local Jockey” to race in our own hometown derby! 21 years of age or older only.

The Great Sidney Farmer’s Market – May 26th – October 13th

Join us every Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to Noon! The market is “the place to be” on Saturday mornings throughout the season. Crafters offer a large variety of homemade items, and farmers bring their freshest produce to tantalize your taste buds. Fresh baked goods and jams and jellies are always a crowd pleaser. Plants and flowers are abundant. Shop early for your best selection!

Chalk the Walk – June 9th – 9:00 a.m. to Noon

Rent a sidewalk square for a donation and create your masterpiece! Chalk will be provided. A panel of judges will choose a winner and that person will receive a prize! 

Kids Around the Square – June 23rd – 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

We partner with United Way agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses & churches to provide a free morning of FUN for children ages 12 & under.

BBQfest – July 14th – 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. 

Join us in celebrating our community’s best cooks and music! Judges will sample pork ribs, pulled pork and BBQ chicken legs. Cook-Off teams will be able to sell to the public so everyone can get in on the fun! The regular Farmer’s Market begins at 8:00 a.m. BBQ vendors will begin selling their food at 11:00 a.m.

National Night Out – August 1st – 5:30 p.m. – to 10:00 p.m.

Over 37.8 million people in more than 16,000 communities will join forces to promote police-community partnerships; crime, drug & violence prevention; safety; and neighborhood unity. Find us on the square for activities, food and a movie at dusk. 

The Amazing Downtown Race – August 17th at 5:30 p.m.

Teams race through downtown for a chance to win great prizes! **Clue sheets are passed out at 5:55 p.m.** Teams of 4, Pre-registration is required and begins on June, 29th. All team members must be age 21 and over. ** Prizes will be awarded to the top teams. 

Open Air Dinner on the Square – September 1st (Rain Date: September 15th) 

Patrons will gather for an elegant farm to table dinner on the square.

Annual Downtown Chocolate Walk – October 5th

Join us as we tour downtown businesses while enjoying samples of delicious chocolate treats! Tickets are $15.00 each and go on sale on August 1st. Tickets are limited. This is an 21 and up event. 

Fall Festival – October 13th – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Ghosts, goblins, superheroes and princesses will gather downtown for a costume contest and activities! A costume contest for ages 0-12 years will be held with registration from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with the contest beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visit Amos Memorial Public Library, Ron & Nita’s & Shelby County Historical Society for more fun! Some participating downtown businesses will also pass out candy. 

Murder/Mystery Dinner Theater – October 27th at 7:00 p.m.

Come join us for a fun filled evening of murder, mayhem, and delicious food! Doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets will go on sale on September 1st. 

Winter Wonderland Parade – November 16th at 6:30 p.m.

See our downtown all dressed up for the holidays and enjoy a wonderful evening parade, complete with Santa & Mrs. Claus! The Reason for the Season Lighting Ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. with the parade stepping off at 7:30 p.m. We ask that all spectators remain on the sidewalk during the parade for everyone’s safety. 

Shop Small Saturday – November 24th 

Support our community and SHOP SMALL in Downtown Sidney! Businesses will be provided with giveaways (while supplies last).

Christmas of Yesteryear, Times Vary – December 1st

Enjoy the sights, tastes & sounds of a Historic Downtown Sidney Christmas, complete with horse & carriage rides. It’s a great time to shop local and finish up those Christmas lists too! Check out our flyer, closer to the event!
